""I conceive Art as a way to explore, to understand, to search. It is the alchemical process that transmutes physical reality into spiritual substance. Through the symbolic, multilayered image, reality reveals its mysteries and form becomes language. And it is in that mysterious, fascinating language of colors, light and shapes that artist and viewer engage in a dialogue, in which meanings are enriched and multiplied, deepened, putting us in touch with our eternal essence. "

Maria Amelia Valdés Sozzani was born in La Plata, Argentina. She got a degree in Italian Language and Culture, specializing in Fine Arts issued by the University of Pisa, Italy.
Her work has been exhibited in galleries, fairs and museums in Argentina, Brazil, the United States and Italy. Her paintings are part of numerous public and private collections in the country and abroad.
She lives and works in La Plata.
About her work
Meli Valdés Sozzani's wildly imaginative paintings introduce us to her own personal universe of lively characters, vibrant color and playful forms.
Coloured by her poetic vision, her sensibility , unique conception of beauty and sometimes a touch of humor, her figures, whose distinctly elongated bodies crowd her canvases, seem to elevate and defy gravity. Their poses and relationships reflect emotional and psychological states inviting us to discover their stories and their enigmatic world.
Valdés Sozzani works in a variety of mediums including oils, acrylics, pencil, mixed-media, digital and video to explore the infinite possibilities of form and colour, in dynamic compositions infused with elements of myth, universal culture, literature, symbols and dreamlike fantasy.
Through her art, Valdés Sozzani gives life to a world in which she materializes her conception of freedom, the affirmation of our humanity, the creative power of women and the irrepressible force of hope.
